Our club has an active program of civic and charitable projects as part of our mission of community service and stewardship of our home environs. Our club raises funds to support scholarships for three local children to participate in the local youth sailing program, and also supports swimming lesson scholarships for area children in conjunction with the Cape Charles YMCA.
The Cape Charles Yacht Club (CCYC) has traditionally provided a reception for our Coast Guard members and their families to honor their continued service to our community. This year, in coordination with the Town of Cape Charles, CCYC will host a luncheon reception for the Coast Guard members and their families at the old Ferry Dock property on the town harbor.

Members volunteer twice yearly for cleanups around the harbor and it’s adjacent roadways, picking up and disposing of hundreds of bags of trash. We also participate in Clean the Bay Day, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's annual, watershed-wide cleanup event. In 2026 we were among more than 3,700 volunteers gathered across more than 200 sites in Virginia to remove over 97,000 pounds of litter and debris from the bay in just three hours!
