Yacht Club’s Big Boat Cruise – May 2025
The Cape Charles Yacht Club’s Big Boat Cruise was again a success. About 40 people attended and we successfully dodged some nasty weather. Attendees arrived by boat, car, and camper!!
On Friday evening we had a wonderful Docktails at poolside with food and refreshments provided by the Yacht club. Jojo Lotuaco and Kathy Litos did a great job procuring and setting up the food table while John Calder and Jim Liepman performed their bartending duties in a spectacular fashion, as always. There were many additional helpers including spouses and other yacht club members…many thanks to all!!
To help us burn off Friday’s food and alcohol intake, Elisa Ley and Jojo organized a walk around Smithfield’s Windsor Castle Park. The weather was perfect and those of us who attended got some great exercise.
Saturday afternoon was free time spent visiting Smithfield, lunching in town and sharing cocktails on the boats at the pier. Before dinner Jim and John brought the Yacht Club beverages back to the pool for a pre-dinner happy hour.
The group dinner took place in the Smithfield Station restaurant. A private room was reserved and we ordered from the menu. Rob, our esteemed commodore, thanked everyone who helped make the event a reality. One table had shots of tequila flowing, though no one will own up to placing the order!!

How to RSVP to Yacht Club Events

Be on the lookout for your email invitation. We have roughly one event a month, usually around the 2nd Thursday of the month. If you don’t get an invitation, check your spam folder as sometimes the mass Evite gets flagged as spam.

Read the WHOLE invitation. It’s impossible to put all the event details on the front of the invitation, so you need to OPEN it and possibly click MORE to read ALL the details.

RSVP in a timely manner. Our social committee uses the RSVP’s to plan the event and to make sure that we have enough food and beverages. Lori will always put an “RSVP by” date on the invitation. To prevent you from being bothered by Evite reminders, if you haven’t RSVP’d by the given date, you will be marked as “NOT ATTENDING.”
